In this article, I am going to discuss the AI foundational concepts Class 10. So let us begin.

Learning outcomes – AI Foundational concepts Class 10

The learning outcomes of AI foundational concepts class 10 are as follows:

  • What is Intelligence?
  • Decision Making
    • How do you make decisions?
    • Make your choices!
  • what is Artificial Intelligence and what is not?

So let us discuss them one by one for AI foundational concepts class 10. So here we go!

What is intelligence? – AI foundational concepts Class 10

The significance of INTELLIGENCE is the capacity to learn or comprehend or to manage new or attempting circumstances: reason; additionally: the talented utilization of reason.

Intelligence refers to the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.

People have been creating machines which can make their lives simpler. Machines are made with the purpose of achieving undertakings which are either excessively monotonous for people or are tedious.

Machines help us by working for us, accordingly sharing our heap and making it simpler for us to satisfy such objectives. But what about Intelligence, how do we define that?

As human beings are called intelligent, so what makes them smart?

As per scientists, intelligence is the ‘capacity to see or gather data, and to hold it as information to be applied towards versatile ways of behaving inside an environment or setting.’

Intelligence involves these abilities:

  1. Mathematical Logical Reasoning: An ability to regulate, measure and understand the numerical symbols, abstraction and logic
  2. Linguistic Intelligence: The skills related to writing or speaking a language processing
  3. Spatial Visual Intelligence: The ability to perceive the visual world and the relationship of the object to one another
  4. Kinesthetic Intelligence: It involves the physical movement and ability to process information by body movement, expression and control.
  5. Musical Intelligence: An ability to understand and recognize the sound, rhythms, and sound patterns.
  6. Intrapersonal Intelligence: An ability to identify a person’s own strengths and weaknesses. An ability to check their own self-awareness.
  7. Existential Intelligence: It is an ability related to religious and spiritual awareness.
  8. Naturalist Intelligence: An ability related to nature and the environment around us.
  9. Interpersonal Intelligence: It is the ability to communicate with others and understand other people’s feelings.

In fact, different people have expertise in a different fields. Someone is very good at language and presentation at the same time some are very good at sports.

Intelligence can be also defined as:

  • Ability to interact with the real world:
    • To perceive, understand and act
      • Example: Speech Recognition – Understanding and synthesis
      • Example: Image Recognition
      • Example: Ability to take action: to have an effect
  • Reasoning and planning
    • Modelling the external world, given input
      • Solving new problems, planning and making decisions
      • Ability to deal with unexpected problems, uncertainties
  • Learning and adaptation
    • Continuous learning and adapting graph
      • Our internal models are always being updated
      • Example: Baby learning to categorize and recognise animals

For example, Our conversations with others. As we start talking with each other. We know how to respond and we continue the conversation. We know what a person wants to say and give them a reply accordingly.

Similarly, when we hear something irrelevant to us immediately we got angry and respond accordingly.

So when we talk about intelligence one thing is associated with it i.e. decision. Decisions can be made only through intelligence.

Decision Making – AI foundational concepts Class 10

Observe this image, as the person has two choices. He needs to choose the correct way where he wants to go. So his intelligence helps him to understand the symbols given as Green and Red. And he chooses the green arrow to go ahead.

How do you make decisions?

The premise of decision-making relies on the accessibility of data and how we experience and figure out it. For the reasons for this article, ‘data’ incorporates our previous experience, instinct, information, and mindfulness.
We can’t make “great” choices without data since then we need to manage obscure factors and face vulnerability, which drives us to make shots in the dark, flip coins, or roll a dice. Having information, experience, or bits of knowledge given a specific circumstance, assists us with picturing what the results could be. also, how we can accomplish/stay away from those results.

In the next section of AI Foundational concepts Class 10, Some scenarios are given to help them to take decisions.

Help to make decisions

Scenario 1

Sonia has gone on a vacation to Goa with her family. While she was there, Sonia and her sisters took lots of pictures of themselves in beachwear. They turned out really beautifully. Sonia would really like to post them on social media, but she’s not sure if it’s a good idea.

What should Vikas do?

In the next section of AI Foundational concepts Class 10, we are going to discuss what is Artificial Intelligence and how machines become Artificially intelligent. So here we go!

The idea of Artificial Intelligence – AI foundational concepts Class 10

The existence of humans without machines today is unbelievable. People have been investing amounts of energy into making them considerably more refined and brilliant.

Thus, we are encircled by brilliant gadgets and devices like cell phones, smart watches, smart TV, and so forth. Yet, what makes them smart?

Meanwhile, in the new technological world, you hear words something like big data, machine learning, neural networks, etc. These all words are directly or indirectly connected to Artificial Intelligence.

For example, how is a smartphone today different from the telephones we had in the past?

  1. As you know, the present telephones can do substantially more than simply call individuals.
  2. They can help us in exploring, and prescribe which tunes we ought to pay attention to or which motion pictures we ought to watch as per our own preferences.
  3. Our telephones can assist us with interfacing within the community, make our selfies fun with faces, assist us with keeping a record of our wellbeing and wellness and significantly more.

These uncommon mechanical progressions lead us to remember one key idea: the idea of Artificial Intelligence.

What is Artificial Intelligence? – AI Foundational concepts Class 10

Well, the answer lies in the term itself. If we break up this term, we get the words “Artificial” and “Intelligence”. Artificial is something which is man-made and does not occur naturally.

At the point when a machine has the capacity to mimic human characteristics, i.e., to decide, foresee the future, learn and develop its own mechanisms, having man-made consciousness is said to have artificial intelligence.

You can say that a machine is artificially intelligent when it can achieve undertakings without anyone else support – gather information, figure out it, break down it, gain from it, and further develop it.

But what makes a machine intelligent? Let us try to get the answer to this question in the next section of AI Foundational concepts Class 10.

How do machines become Artificially Intelligent?

People become increasingly smarter with time as they gain experience during their lives.

For instance, in primary school, we learn about letters in order and in the long run we push forward to making words with them. As we grow, we become increasingly more familiar with the language as we continue to learn new words and use them in our discussions.

Another example is how the child learns to walk. At first, a child struggles to walk. He takes help from others while figuring out how to walk and when he knows it, he continues to update it by figuring out how to run, hop, and so on.

Similarly, machines also become smart whenever they are prepared with some data which assists them with accomplishing their tasks. Artificial intelligence machines also continue to upgrade their insights to advance better results.

Applications of AI around us

Daily we are using so many applications and websites on our smartphones. Some of them are based on AI. Let us see a few of them.

Google

From time to time, we surf the web for things on Google without acknowledging how proficiently Google generally answers us with exact responses. Besides the fact that it thinks of results to our pursuit right away, it also recommends and auto-corrects our composed sentences.

Virtual Assistants

Virtual assistants like Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Microsoft Cortana are used widely today and become an integral part of computerised devices nowadays. These are smart PDAs which perform many tasks at a time with a single voice command.

Gaming

Artificial intelligence has totally upgraded the gaming experience for its clients. Many games these days are upheld with AI which helps in improving the designs, introduces new trouble levels, supports gamers, and so forth.

Online Shopping

Computer-based intelligence has made our lives simpler as well as been dealing with our hobbies, likes, and dislikes. Therefore Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, YouTube and so forth show us suggestions based on what we like.

Social Media

Indeed, the suggestions are not simply restricted to our inclinations, they even take care of our necessities of associating with companions via web-based entertainment platforms with applications like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. They send us warnings about our internet shopping, auto-make playlists as per our request, etc. Taking selfies was never this fun as Snapchat channels make them look so cool.

Health care

Artificial intelligence is being utilized to screen our well-being. Plenty of chatbots and other health applications are accessible, which persistently screen the physical and psychological health of its clients.

These applications are not restricted to brilliant gadgets but rather additionally change to humanoids like Sophia, the first humanoid robot adequately complex to get citizenship, biometric security frameworks like the face locks we have in our phones, language processors, weather forecasts, and so forth!

This rundown is enormous, and this module will continue everlastingly assuming we continue to classify them. In this way, take some time, discuss with a classmate and identify more AI applications around you!

What is not AI?

Since we have a variety of advancements which exist around us in the present time, it is extremely normal for us to misjudge some other innovations as AI. That is the reason, we want to have a clear idea about what is AI and what is not.

As we discussed earlier, any machine that has been trained with data and can make decisions/predictions on its own can be termed as AI. Here, the term ‘training’ is important.

There are many devices like automated washing machines, Air Conditioners, bots or any other automatic machine require human interventions to select the parameters of performing the task and do the necessary preparation for the device. These types of devices are known as automated machines.

Some of the devices can be turned off or operated either with remote or IoT using sensors. These devices are not considered as AI. The automation machine which is not trained with any data, it does not count as AI.

So all devices which are termed as “smart” are not AI enabled. For example smart watch does not become AI enabled because it does not able to think and prcoess by itself.

AI enables machines to think and learn from the data or past experiences. The data which is fed into the system requires to be trained first then optimise them by themselved and produces the results. This makes the AI device different from any other technological device or machine.

But these devices can be integrated with AI to provide the users with better and immersive experience!

Mechanical technology, robotics and AI can make the ways for humanoids and self-driving vehicles, AI when converged with Internet of things (IoT) can lead to distributed computing of information and remote access of AI devices, robotization alongside AI can assist in accomplishing with smart homes, etc. Such integrattions can assist us with defeating the two universes!
