Practical Question Paper Class 12 Computer Science 2023-24
Every year Computer Science Class 12 practical exam is conducted by the CBSE board. CBSE appoints an external examiner to conduct the practical exam at the end of the year. The exam pattern and structure are given in the CBSE curriculum document.
Here in this article, I will discuss how to set a question paper for practical exam 2023-24.
Board Practical Structure computer science class 12 2023-24
The computer science assessment structure is 70 + 30 = 100. 70 written examinations will be conducted at the end of the session and 30 marks practical examination will be conducted. This year the board practical exam structure is as follows:

Lab Test – Practical Question Paper Class 12 Computer Science 2023-24
The lab test in Practical Question Paper Class 12 Computer Science 2023-24 consists of a Python program for 8 marks and SQL queries for 4 marks. So Python program can give you 5 (logic) + 3 (documentation and coding) as well and SQL queries give you 4 marks.
In the first part, a Python program and MySQL queries will be asked. Firstly candidate has to do the program and queries on the computer practically then write the answers in answer sheets provided in the exam. The sample question papers are linked at the end of this article.

Practical Report file
The practical file needs to be submitted by candidates. The practical files contain the following components:
- Minimum 15 Python Programs (Revision Tour – 2, Exception handling – 2, Functions – 5, File handling – 4, Stack – 2)
- SQL Queries – (Minimum 5 sets)
- Programs based on Python-MySQL connectivity (4 Programs)

The next component of Practical Question Paper Class 12 Computer Science 2023-24 is project work. Let’s discuss now:
Project Work
The project work will be done by the students well in advance. The detailed report will be submitted in the practical exam. The project work can be assessed for 8 marks.
Students can use the concepts they learned in class 11 and class 12 for making projects. The following points to be remembered for making projects:
Aim
The class project aims to create something tangible and useful using Python file handling/ Python-SQL connectivity. This should be done in groups of two to three students and should be started by students at least 6 months before the submission deadline. The aim here is to find a real-world problem that is worthwhile to solve.
Students are encouraged to visit local businesses and ask them about the problems that they are facing. For example, if a business is finding it hard to create invoices for filing GST claims, then students can do a project that takes the raw data (list of transactions), groups the transactions by category, accounts for the GST tax rates, and creates invoices in the appropriate format. Students can be extremely creative here.
They can use a wide variety of Python libraries to create user-friendly applications such as games, software for their school, software for their disabled fellow students, and mobile applications, of course, to do some of these projects, some additional learning is required; this should be encouraged. Students
should know how to teach themselves.

Viva Voce
In the practical exam, Viva voce questions can be asked by both examiners i.e. Internal as well as external.
